UX Research and Collaborative Projects

Suöp!!

Creating a space for immanent play, where a normally static projection-surface is placed, improvising at the thresholds of algorithmic-analog topographies. TidalCycles, Hydra, Fluxus are used in combination to create data visualizations that multiply and refract across materials (such as bubble paper, tubes, springs, mirrors, plants, limbs, and shadows). The sudden, the surprise, the ‘oops!’ and flux of the live-coding extends into the equally live and improvisational movements of materials, that splash, slip and re-compose with the projections. Polyrhythms both sonic and visual, continually offer a multiplicity of thresholds through which to explore and celebrate coding as an event, ‘as it happens’. Immediations; Movements of Thought/Knots of Thought

Bi weekly workshops, held at Usine C, fall-winter 2015, in collaboration with Ramona Benveniste, Mayra Morales, Diego Gil, and Csenge Kolozsvari. Movements of Thought considers ways of moving and thinking through embodied experience, and of thought itself as a mobile interplay across disciplines. What is a moving thought? How may it open bodies to modes of lived abstraction, becoming more-or-less human, comprising images, material entities, and affective compositions? What techniques may be drawn from diverse practices in physical movement, and how may these be assembled in discussion with scholars and practitioners from other fields? Working alongside Knots of Thought, this assembly of thinking-together invites participants to consider what may be at stake for performing an ecology of practices in the movements of thought.

'Spaze' Practices - Radical Pedagogy and a Pragmatics of the Useless

What has a use in the future, unforeseeably, is radically useless now. What has an effect now is not necessarily useful, if it falls through the gaps. What falls outside the purview of already known functions and established standards of value, not for want of potential but for carrying an excess of it. The figures are various: the infrathin, the artful, proprioceptive tactilty, neurodiversity. Ongoing collaborative movements, recomposing and schizzing every-day objects in the SenseLab space, continually re-orienting questions around what a 'classroom' can do when it is undone. How-else can learning and knowledge be generated from spaces and processes not yet spoken for, assigned or prescribed. Part of the ongoing research-creation for Immediations, as part of a 7 year SHHRC partnership grant.
